George Rasley, editor of Conservative HQ, writes an excellent piece entitled “Heather Surovik Needed in All Fifty States”. I love the title. Throughout the country, there are examples of women like Ms. Surovik who have tragically lost their unborn babies to violent criminal acts. Some states, such as Texas and Washington, recognize unborn babies as victims and level homicide charges against the perpetrators. Other states, such as New Hampshire and Colorado, are blind to babies senselessly killed by criminals.
Mr. Rasley quotes Ms. Surovik:
“There were two victims here,” Surovik says. “My son wasn’t a loss of a pregnancy—he was a person, an eight-pound boy.” She said the law is a bid for justice for “both the mother and unborn child.”
Read Mr. Rasley’s piece.
